It’s Pride Month. Tell Us Your Story.

It’s Gay Pride Month, and we’re looking for your stories. Your personal experience about being LGBTQ (the good, the bad, the ugly, the beautiful). Your experience as a straight ally. Your love stories. We want to hear it all, so that this website can be as diverse and inclusive as we think the world should be.

Representation matters. Tells us how. Tell us your your heroes. Joe Kort, Ph.D., tells us how Tony Orlando and Dawn saved his life. What’s your story?

How can we do a better job protecting our children as they struggle to make sense as to what it means to be LGBTQ in today’s world? For example, one mom gives 5 steps for supporting a son when he comes out of the closet.

What are some of the bigger social problems that can be solved by getting rid of homophobia altogether? For example, research has found schools with less homophobia have less bullying (if any). Mark Greene sees a world where all men will have more access to platonic touch. And Carol Bluestein imagines a City of the Future where genderfluidity is normal.

Let’s get more LGBTQ representation in Fiction. What have you read lately that has gay or queer protagonists?

What are the ways that fear and anxiety among “undocumented ” persons and are similar to being in the closet? Here is Anthony Carter’s take.

Have you been brought up in a religion that does not support LGBTQ children? If so, as John Pavlovitz, himself a pastor, writes: That Church has failed you. Tell us your struggles between open, inclusive world and religious beliefs.

What’s the #1 complaint people have about being LGBTQ? Any guesses?

If you are LGBTQ, we’d love to hear your take on love—in exactly 100 words—as part of our ongoing series.

And finally—as Pride Month demonstrates—LGBTQ is indeed something to celebrate. Tell us about how you celbrate and why.

As you become a deeper part of the conversation—The Conversation No One Else is Having—you will learn all of the ways we support our Writers’ Community—community FB groups, weekly conference calls, classes in writing, editing platform building and How to Create Social Change.
